On your way to the Grand Canyon National Park, stop in to see the Planes of Fame at
the Grand Canyon Valle Airport.

Conveniently located at the intersection of Highways 180 and 64, Planes of Fame-Grand Canyon is just 25 miles south of the National Park. You can't get to the south rim of the Grand Canyon without passing the museum.

A division of Plane of Fame Air Museum which is headquartered at Chino, California, this museum is part of an organization that brought the first permanent air museum to the west coast of the United States and pioneered the "flying museum" concept. Many of the aircraft in the museum's vast collection, including many of those at Planes of Fame - Grand Canyon, are flyable.

A number of the aircraft on display at the museum are sole surviving examples of their
type and still exist only because of Mr. Maloney's personal determination to save at least one example of as many different aircraft as possible.

While the Planes of Fame - Grand Canyon facility is smaller than the headquarters location in Chino, California, it still contains a sizeable collection of very rare and one-of-a-kind classic aircraft.  From a Messerschmitt Me-109G-10/U4 to a flyable Douglas AD-4N Skyraider, the aircraft make up part of the Planes of Fame's overall impressive collection of over 150 aircraft between both facilities.

Other aircraft at this facility include an Aichi D3A2 Val (BT-15 Conversion), Douglas RB-26C Invader, Ford 5-AT Trimotor, Grumman J2F-6 Duck, Lockeed T-33 Shooting Star, Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-15, Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka 11, and many more!

See many of them fly at the
HIGH COUNTRY WARBIRDS FLY-IN
in June each year!

One of the main stars at the Planes of Fame - Grand Canyon facility was the personal transport plane for General Douglas Macarthur, a Lockheed C-121A Constellation named 'Bataan' by the General himself. Along with taking part in the Berlin Airlift and being assigned to many various high-ranking VIPs, 'Bataan' saw service in the Korean War and was even stationed at Hickam AB in Hawaii following the war.  For more information on ''Bataan', you can read a bit about it's history on the Featured Aircraft page.
